According to the recent survey from Netcraft there is 273,301,445 active websites, it is a very big number and its growing dramatically! Apace is dominating the market with 59.13% of the share, followed by Microsoft with 21% and Google in 4th place with 5.53% of the share.
The most interesting thing is Google’s 5.53% share is hosted in its own servers like Blogger, Google App Engine etc. Compared to December 2010, Google has dropped 0.32% in Jan, because lot of bloggers are moving to Word press or hosting their own site.
From above figures it is crystal clear that there is lot and lot of websites to check, we cant check and read everyone of them. Everyone have their own favourite websites, like I do.
I am sharing some website which I feel is very informative and Interesting. Everyone out there is most welcome to share your favourite websites.
I will skip the Social Networking sites, because you know the reason y?
- The hindu – My home page. The biggest read Indian English newspaper. This website covers all the news that is happening all over India, updated every minute, very reliable. Open page is very interesting in this website.
- Wikipedia – No doubt everyone is using it everyday, I came across this site during my college. It has everything you want. Technical information, you can’t trust this website. General information's about a person,a place, a book you can trust. Wikipedia celebrating its 10 years anniversary.
- imovie hall- Have you tried this site? if not try it. Wikipedia of Indian movies. This website covers all the movie that is being released in 6 major India languages. It is a new start up website with more than 500 followers, growing drastically. Recently this website was rated in Mumbai mirror. KillerStartups mentioned this as Internet Movie Database for Indian Films. Blogtechnika have added credit to this site saying “It might be the next IMDB of Indian Movies”. Webapprater have also reviewed this website.

- Mashable – I am very big fan of this site. Very interesting, recently they rolled out with new design. Very informative, started in 2005, 30 million page view every month.
- Engadget – As name suggest everything about gadgets and consumer electronics, one of my favourites. It has iphone and Android app, focuses on gadgets reviews.
- Techcrunch- A very interesting blog, shares things about new start-ups, new internet products and latest tech news. One of the best blogs. Started in 2005, 33 million page views per months.
- Tested – As the name all the gadgets are tested by the Authors and they share their hands on experience with videos. Almost everything presented in CES 2011 was covered in this site. Fancy about technology? this is for you then.
- T3- I would say its the best Gadget magazine in the world. All the new gadgets reviewed and rated. The website has lot of useful information, reviews, apps, competitions etc. The magazine is colourful and very useful if you love gadgets.
Science and Internet
- Newscientist- A very useful site. If you are a science student, researcher then you can learn lot from this site. Latest research information and new inventions is the main focus. They publish their own magazine, which is worth reading.
- How stuff works- Every one know about this site. This site is useful for everyone, do u want to learn how TV works? visit this site. It contains all basic information to complex information.
- How to geek – It is a very interesting website, it has articles about Operating systems, web browsers, Internet, games and software's.
Computer and Internet
- Pcpro- My favourite website for PC information. If you want to buy a new Desktop or Laptop, hard disk or anything related to PC, just check this site. They publish their own magazine which is very useful for every computer user.
- Itproportal – First technology website launched in UK. It mainly targets Hardware, Mobile, Web, Network information's. This website manages to provide latest IT stuffs first on internet.
- Webuser – A very elegant website about Internet, purely about internet. This website covers the basis information abut online games, blog, how to setup broadband and many more. The magazine is also good, worth reading.
